How does Alarm Monitoring Work?

All of the components of your security system are connected to your central control panel – the brains of the system. The control panel communicates with Monitoring Centers via a communication line like a dedicated cellular connection or a phone line.

When your system is ARMED, it monitors the various sensors in your home or business for activity. If a sensor is tripped and no valid user code is entered into the keypad within a specified time, an alarm signal is sent to the Monitoring Center.

This is when Operators jump into action.

How Alarm Monitoring Work?

If you have the proper devices to monitor for smoke & fire, CO poison, flood and extreme temperature changes, your system is always monitoring your home for these potential threats. If one is detected, a signal will be sent to the Monitoring Center to be acted on. Arming and disarming of your system has no impact on this.

Home alarm monitoring is crucial to the success of any security system. Understanding how your monitoring system operates will help you to better grasp the effectiveness of our security systems.

CSP Monitoring centers combine the very latest in technology with a best-in-class training program for their Emergency Response Operators. With 12 weeks of in-house training and practicum learning, the operators learn to respond to emergency alarm situations and medical emergencies with precision and professionalism. In addition to this training, all of their operators become certified with the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) and the Security Industry Association (SIA). This means operators are prepared to handle any and every emergency that you may face in your home or business.

Multiple-monitor operator stations, integrated with leading edge response platforms, two-way voice technology and complete customer management systems, ensure that all of the information to handle the situation quickly and correctly is obtained for the operator. This high-end technology ensures a rapid response to any emergency and is cutting edge in home alarm monitoring services.

Through their commitment to excellence, our monitoring stations have been built to meet the requirements of the Underwriters’ Laboratories of Canada (ULC). CSP’s national network of ULC-listed centers share the same operating software and are connected by a secure and dedicated communication line. This allows each center to act as a back up in the event of a disaster or outage ensuring your home or business is protected under any circumstances.

Credentials, technology and experienced personnel set CSP apart from other companies that provide home alarm monitoring services.

What Happens When My Alarm Goes Off?

Within seconds of receiving an alarm signal from a home or business the monitoring center’s cutting-edge technology gives operators the relevant information they need. This fast response time will ensure the residents of your residential or commercial property receive the help they need before the situation becomes any worse.

In seconds they can determine all of the information necessary to resolve an emergency situation, including:

  • What type of emergency it is.
  • Which local authorities to dispatch, if required.
  • Who to contact.
  • What to do if you’re on holidays.
  • Whether there is a pet in the house.

Operators will have everything they need to know in order to deal with your situation quickly and effectively. Knowing the nature of your situation and who can help will ensure your home or business is taken care of. As well, if an operator is knowledgeable about what to do when you’re not there, you can enjoy your time on holiday or vacation without worrying about the safety of your home or business. In many cities police may require confirmation of suspected criminal activity by the property owner and/or multiple alarm zones triggered in order for our monitoring team to request a police dispatch. This has been implemented in many cities in order to avoid false alarm dispatches. If it fits your budget it is recommended to have extra security sensors at your property to ensure more than one zone is triggered if you experience a break in.

Home alarm monitoring services ensure you will receive a response during any emergency situation and the experienced operators will be able to efficiently and effectively ensure the safety of you, your family or your business with quick-response times.
