Smoke and Carbon Monoxide, or CO, detectors are important devices that need to be placed in every home. Not only should they be placed in every home, but in every facility, as well. They can greatly reduce the risk of being caught in a fire or a carbon monoxide leak, which could ultimately cause death to you or someone in your family.
Why a Carbon Monoxide Detector Is Beneficial to Your Home
Carbon monoxide is a poisonous, odorless gas that can reach dangerous levels in poorly ventilated areas. There is no surefire way to protect your home from this deadly gas, but you can prevent falling victim to it if you keep a carbon monoxide detector in your home. The detector will warn you when CO levels have reached a potentially hazardous level, in which case everyone should leave the home immediately.
If you ever feel excessively dizzy, flu-like, short of breath, or have chest pain, you may have a carbon monoxide leak in your home. The as only way to avoid such an occurrence before it happens is by having an operating detector! Otherwise, you won’t know until you begin experiencing symptoms. If you ignore the symptoms, the odorless gas could become deadly rather quickly.
Why are Smoke Detectors Important in a Home?
Smoke detectors are equally important as carbon monoxide detectors in a home. Not only does a smoke detector detect smoke, but it detects heat. If you are sleeping or in another room from where the fire started, you will be awakened by the loudness of the alarm as soon as smoke or heat is detected. This can prevent you and your family from becoming victim of a house fire.
The Real Reason you Need Detectors
Alright, so we all know what these devices do. They alert you when there’s a problem. But the simplicity of that is exactly why these are essential elements of every household and building. Although often overlooked, they’re lifesaving devices that can make the difference between keeping you and your family healthy and safe, and losing all of your possessions or worse.
Keep your family as safe as possible with CO and smoke detectors. Have them placed around the home in doorways or directly outside of rooms. By installing these detectors and ensuring monthly that they’re in working order, you are keeping your family safer and will preventing a possible tragedy.
