Burglary Vs Robbery: How They’re Similar
Both types of crimes involve, firstly, property and, secondly, theft. Theft, of course, involves unlawfully taking property that belongs to someone else. Based on that general definition, however, you would not necessarily be able to decide whether burglary or robbery comes into play. You would require further details, such as whether a victim or victims was present, to decide what sort of crime has taken place.
Burglary Vs Robbery: How They’re Different
One the one hand, robbery refers to to illegal act of taking something of value from a person by using force or intimidation. A victim needs to be at the scene of the theft for a robbery to actually take place. On the other hand, burglary refers to the act of gaining illegal access to a structure, such as a home, to carry out theft. Unlike the act of robbery, a victim or victims do not have to be at the scene for an act of burglary to take place.
