One the one hand, robbery refers to to illegal act of taking something of value from a person by using force or intimidation. A victim needs to be at the scene of the theft for a robbery to actually take place. On the other hand, burglary refers to the act of gaining illegal access to a structure, such as a home, to carry out theft. Unlike the act of robbery, a victim or victims do not have to be at the scene for an act of burglary to take place.
