The city of Belleville, ON with only a population of 50,000 has the highest rate of breaking and entering in Canada for 2010 as shown on Macleans article about the most dangerous Canadian cities. After the crime spree in which former colonel Russell Williams committed murder and many burglary’s, most thought the stats would change after he was caught. But even though Williams committed more than 80 break-ins, only two of them were handled by Belleville police. Break-ins were a severe problem already and to fight these crimes the police created a task force in order to reduce the amount of break-ins. Out of the top 5 cities for being the worst cities for breaking and entering 4 of them are in British Columbia.
